For the past seven years, we’ve successfully offered affordable childcare through the Non-Profit $25 a day pilot project in High River.
We are now part of the new Alberta/Federal Child Care Agreement, which reduces fees for families, and we await further federal announcements as we work toward the $10 a day childcare goal.
Our advisory board consists of six dedicated members, including business professionals, early learning experts, and parents. Together, we bring a wealth of knowledge and insight that strengthens and enhances the quality of our programs.
At Daydreams, we are guided by the principles of Alberta's FLIGHT Curriculum and the Learning through Play philosophy. We believe that children are capable, curious learners, and our environments are designed to reflect this by fostering exploration, inquiry, and co-learning.

At Daydreams, we are guided by the principles of Alberta's FLIGHT Curriculum and the Learning through Play philosophy. We believe that children are capable, curious learners, and our environments are designed to reflect this by fostering exploration, inquiry, and co-learning.
Our environments are thoughtfully designed with the belief that the environment is the third teacher. Every space—indoors and outdoors—is intentionally created to provoke curiosity, inspire creativity, and invite children to engage in meaningful experiences.
Outdoor Environments
We recognize the importance of nature in learning, and our outdoor spaces bring together both programs, enhancing the children's connection to the natural world. With five distinct outdoor areas, including gardens, forests for small world play, construction zones, mud kitchens, and sensory exploration areas, children are encouraged to engage in open-ended play that nurtures their physical, social, spiritual and cognitive development.
Advantages of an Early Learning and Child Care Centre
Being in an Early Learning and Child Care Centre provides children with rich opportunities for brain development, social experiences, and emotional support. Our professional and consistent educators offer a nurturing, responsive environment that promotes healthy relationships and emotional well-being.
Engaged Families and Educators
We also recognize the importance of providing welcoming spaces where families and educators can come together. These environments support collaborative learning, community-building, and a sense of belonging for all involved.
In all that we do, Daydreams is committed to creating an environment where children, educators, and families thrive together as co-learners, celebrating curiosity and the joy of learning through play.

Our summer was a very busy one!
We completed some construction on the Daydreams Play Academy, opening walls, defining classrooms and making the program work for all our little preschool aged friends.
We have 2 new and large classrooms within the Play Academy, these rooms reflect the “environment is the third teacher” Reggio Emilia philosophy in their design. They are warm and inviting for the children and their families. Soft lighting, plants, pets, homey aesthetics and play invitations make this space a beautiful environment to invoke learning through play.
After much voting and deliberation, the names of the 2 classrooms are: Dream Berry Garden and Sunrise Hollow. We felt these names paid tribute to our past by honouring the previous Daydreams & Sunbeams Company and welcomed the future with the image of a garden and a hollow planting roots for our young learners and enriching their soil as they grow.
We said goodbye to many young friends as they have outgrown us and were excitedly ready to join Kindergarten programs. It is always the bittersweet battle of excitement and sadness when the children outgrow our program. We watch them grow from infancy, through the toddler and preschool years, into these amazing, independent and caring individuals only to have them leave our nest in just a short 4 or 5 years. We guide them to embody the confidence, knowledge, independence and love of learning they need to enter the kindergarten world, and we share wholeheartedly in their excitement as they spread their wings and leap, but we also mourn the missing piece they leave behind in our classrooms and our hearts. And we hold fast to the knowledge that just as these little people came and played with us another group is right behind them eager to take on the challenges, adventures and fun that our program holds. Fly high little Kinders ~ The world is ready for you!
Our summer family event was a HUGE success! Bouncy castles, popsicles, treats, water play and fun! Having our families come to play, get to know each other and be a part of our program is very important to us. Children thrive when their families and early learning programs are connected. We, thank everyone who came out and participated. (Except the wasps, we could have done without them!) Thank you to our incredible educators for helping to pull off another great family event.
Our play yard construction projects are almost complete for the year, and we are greatly enjoying the shade our new structures provide.
We have redesigned our Infant yard to be more accessible and inviting for all our little crawlers. Stay tuned for more additions to make the infant play space safe, inviting and fun in all weather scenarios.
We have once again partnered with MaxECS for early intervention services. MaxECS provides children who are 2.10months or older and requiring interventions specialized services in Speech, Physical & Occupational Therapies and PUF Funding through the Alberta Education Department. Ms. Shonda from MaxECS will be with us for the year as an EA to assist the children with reaching their goals.
We have also been asked by Inclusion Foothills to provide childcare for their upcoming conference participants and we are grateful for the opportunity to assist. To be recognized by such a worthy organization as a partner is an honour.
Our annual fall costume exchange is underway and if you have any costumes to donate or if you are looking for a costume please stop by and “shop” our little exchange!
